LifeChurch.tv Team Digerati is at it again

I'm beginning to wonder if the innovators at LifeChurch.tv ever sleep. Just when you think they've come up with the coolest idea for a great application - that they share with everyone for free - and figure, "These guys should kick back and relax a little" you find the next great idea being mentioned in their latest blog post over at Swerve.

Videoteaching This new idea may not be all that new. Everyone and their brother has made sermons, messages, series, etc. available on tape or DVD, and some, now, even on the web. But with the distribution capabilities of the internet and the track record of excellent implementation and execution by Team Digerati on past projects (such as YouVersion.com, the recently released ChurchMetrics.com, and the OPEN program) it certainly is exciting to imagine the possibilities with VideoTeaching.com. There's not a lot of information available, yet, but this has the makings of being a big deal. Huge. Ginormous! Am I gushing? Perhaps. But I can't tell you how exciting it is to see a church that gets it. A church that understands where society is, where we're going, how we're getting there and, most importantly, how to utilize the technological tools available to connect so many people, in so many places. These tools and resources that are being made available to anyone for free, can enable and empower anyone with a desire and passion to reach their neighborhood, their community, their city, their state, their country...you get the idea. So, yeah, I probably am gushing a little at the possibilities.

Keep up the excellent work Team Digerati!

Tweet Tweet - A good example of how the church can use Twitter

Twitter Our church had a Women's conference this past Saturday night. I received a text message from the Associate Pastor mid-day on Saturday asking if I could come to the church at about 9:00 p.m. and help get everything set back up for Sunday morning service.

I replied and made my way over shortly after 9:00 p.m. As I was talking with our Associate Pastor he told me he sent out 20 individual text messages and had to stop after that cause his thumbs were worn out. That's when I said, "hey dude, we need to set you up on Twitter. Further, we need to set up a church Twitter feed for things such as this."

Twitter is free and is is a great way to communicate with a large group of people who share a common interest. This is especially true for churches, non-profits, civic organizations and such. Is your church using Twitter? If so, how? Are you publicizing it? If so, how are you publicizing it?

Please chime in or tweet me direct @skeggsjp.

Happy Birthday, CREATIVEMYK

Take me to CreativeMYK In case you haven't heard about it, there is a great resource/community that is growing and serving the church in a cool way. It's called CREATIVEMYK. The site was launched a year ago today, thus I'd like to wish them a Happy 1st Birthday.

In a nutshell, this is an online community where designers and photographers can share their work. What's cool is that two purposes are served at CREATIVEMYK. First, other members can download your submissions for their use. (See my submissions here and download away). Second, other members can offer comments, criticisms, and recommendations on your designs and photos.

This is a great resource for churches since you can download anything for free. Check it out today.
